In the winter, nature seems to be asleep. The buds underground are invisible to us, yet they are already whole and waiting to appear. Although unseen, their essence is already present. By getting still, there is an opportunity to tap into your essence. Restorative Yoga is a mini retreat. Now is the time to relax. As you settle into each shape, tension and stress melt away. Now is the time to quiet your mind, nourish your body, and connect with your essence.
Restorative Yoga is appropriate for everyone. All poses are done on the floor and held for 10-15 minutes with the support of props for comfort. This ensures deep relaxation and repose. It is an excellent practice for injuries, arthritis, inflammation, beginners, and for anyone wanting to relax. Resting in each pose pacifies the “fight or flight“ reaction to stress so that "rest and rejuvenation” can happen. This deep rest soothes the nervous system, muscles, and joints, as it calms the mind/body connection. Most students experience a profound sense of peace and tranquility which continues long after the workshop ends.
All levels welcome. Dress comfortably. No prior experience is necessary. Please have any food two hours prior to class. Bring a yoga mat (if you have one) and your water bottle. Please arrive 10 minutes early to gather your props and settle in.
